Ancient Egypt

Ancient Egyptians rarely wanted to leave Egypt, because they were afraid of dying in another country. They believed that only in Egypt would the gods allow your soul to be reborn into the afterlife. If they died outside of Egypt, they would be denied an afterlife and just stop existing. For soldiers, they would make special arrangements for their bodies to be brought back and buried. People rarely even ventured out from where they were born. They believed that where you lived and what you did during your life would also be your afterlife. Being present and taking joy in the things in their lives was very important to them, so they would have pleasant afterlives. I had trouble coming up with something clever for this one, but I thought this was way too cool to skip over
